Improvisation on guitar can be one of the most enjoyable ways to be productive and creative at the same time. Although it is a very subjective field, there are many concepts we can apply to improvisation that are applicable to many styles and genres – this workshop will take you through an overarching approach to those concepts using pentatonic scales as a basis. Helping you make your improvisations more melodic and memorable.

Some people might think this is a magical talent that only appears after years of experience playing an instrument, but, it’s actually easier than you may think – the methods are easily attainable even for beginners. This workshop focuses on melody as a basis for transcription, designed to get your ears trained up to listen in the correct way to allow you to work out your favourite songs without having to rely on the sometimes dubious internet transcriptions!

At the same time, these new skills will help you in other areas on your instrument from better improvisation techniques to work out how to begin writing your own music and songs. After all, your ears are going to be your most important guide on the road to mastering music so let’s see if we can tune it up for you!

Would you like to write your own music? It isn’t as difficult as you may think. This workshop is designed to explore some of the easiest methods to create rhythm, harmony and melody from scratch. No prior knowledge is necessary as all reference material will be provided. You should finish this workshop with a solid grasp of how to create your own music in any style you like.

Aimed at all levels.

No instrument necessary. Bring a notebook and pencil.
