Fluent in a variety of styles such as rock, pop, blues, country, metal, jazz, soul/R&B, funk, and classical, Andrew offers a comprehensive stylistic toolkit in his lessons. He excels in fingerstyle guitar and extended-range guitars (seven strings or more), integrating broader musical skills like songwriting, composition, and production into his teaching approach.
As a live performer, Andrew frequently shares the stage with various acts, including pop-soul artist Natasha Rose, psych-funk jam band Tripsitta, and indie-rock trio Select Roe. His performance experience encompasses major events like the Powerhouse Cube Effect Award Night, the Trade Union Award Night at the Brisbane Convention Centre, and the Brisbane City Council’s Olympic Games announcement celebration. He has also graced renowned festivals such as Caloundra Music Festival, Red Deer Festival, Nimbin Roots Festival, Jimna Rocks Festival, and Rockhampton River Life Festival, as well as the Tivoli for the Cube Effect music video shoot.
Influenced by artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Steely Dan, Santana, Gary Moore, and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Andrew combines classic inspiration with contemporary energy in both his playing and teaching.
Andrew’s mission as a coach is to foster musicians’ confidence and help them forge a deep connection with their instruments. He is passionate about creating a nurturing learning environment where individuals feel empowered to express themselves and develop into captivating performers. Inspired by the mentors during his own studies, Andrew approaches each lesson with enthusiasm, patience, and energy, aiming to ignite the same passion for music within The Guitar Gym community.
