Ben
We are excited to welcome Ben to The Guitar Gym team. His extensive experience and passion for music education make him a valuable addition to our community.
Ben’s personal mission is to inspire excellence, creativity, and confidence in music by providing high-quality, customised music education in a supportive environment that fosters musical potential in everyone.
He chose a career in music education because it aligns with his core values and purpose: to do something meaningful within the community, look forward to it every day, and constantly improve and evolve. His passion for music and sharing musical concepts, practical approaches, theory, and creativity stems from his youth when he eagerly anticipated his weekly guitar lessons. Ben aims to provide that same enriching experience for our members.
He holds a Bachelor of Music Technology from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Griffith University, and has completed the Sam Evian Songwriting and Production Course.
Ben is confident in teaching Finger-style (Contemporary), Jazz, and Slide Guitar. Additionally, he is skilled in songwriting, music production, mixing, and live sound. His versatility extends to other instruments, including Bass, Ukulele, Drums, Keys, Pedal Steel, Banjo, Mandolin, and Lap Steel. As a regular live performer, Ben is involved with several bands on the rock and folk scene. He has also written, performed all instruments for, and mixed his own solo album.
Ben’s musical influence spans multiple decades and genres, including Rock, Pop, Jazz, Blues, Bluegrass, Country, Folk, Classical, and IDM. He draws inspiration from a wide range of artists such as The Beatles, Beach Boys, Stevie Wonder, America, Jimi Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers, Bon Iver, Sam Evian, John Mayer, Pat Metheny, Eagles, Don Felder, Joe Walsh, J.S.
