Dylan
Dylan is a passionate and versatile guitar coach currently studying a Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium. With a broad musical vocabulary and a deep love for the instrument, he teaches across a wide range of genres including rock, pop, blues, jazz, funk, country, soul/R&B, and metal. His lessons explore techniques such as fingerstyle, jazz guitar, tapping, slide playing, and expressive, melodic approaches influenced by players like Joe Satriani. He also supports students in sight reading, ear training, songwriting, composition, and music production.
As an active performer, Dylan has taken part in a variety of notable projects and events, including theatre productions and large-scale fundraisers. His stage experience informs his teaching, giving students practical insights into live performance and musical communication.
Dylan draws inspiration from a diverse range of artists and groups, including Wes Montgomery, Julian Lage, Guthrie Govan, Vulfpeck, Weather Report, Steely Dan, Snarky Puppy, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band. This eclectic mix influences both his playing style and his approach to teaching.
His mission is to inspire students to pick up the guitar outside of lessons—encouraging self-driven learning so lesson time can focus on deeper musical development. Dylan believes music is essential to life and culture, and he’s committed to passing on knowledge that helps students find their voice and keep the artform alive.
