Taine
Taine is an accomplished guitar coach at The Guitar Gym, bringing a wealth of knowledge and a deep passion for music to every lesson. With a Bachelor of Music from QUT, Taine has a well-rounded musical background, having started out on the Tenor Saxophone during high school before adding bass guitar and ukulele to his repertoire. His diverse musical experience allows him to approach guitar instruction from multiple angles, giving you a well-rounded understanding of music that goes beyond just the fretboard.
Taine’s influences are wide-ranging, spanning across rock, blues, and world music. He draws inspiration from guitar legends like Jeff Buckley, Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden, and Tool, as well as from virtuoso players like Eric Gales, Danny Gatton, and Duane Allman. He also finds great inspiration in the powerful, soulful sounds of Qawwali singers such as Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. These eclectic influences shape Taine’s approach to teaching, blending technical proficiency with emotional depth and creativity. Whether you’re interested in learning blues, rock riffs, or unique rhythms, Taine’s expertise and diverse influences offer a fresh perspective.
As a performer, Taine is an active member of the progressive rock band Taine Joso and regularly plays solo acoustic shows. This performance experience not only keeps him immersed in the music scene but also informs his teaching style. He brings real-world experience into the studio, helping you refine your skills for any performance setting – whether it’s in a band, on stage, or just for personal enjoyment.
What Taine finds most rewarding is helping you achieve those “aha” moments – the sense of satisfaction when you finally nail a tricky technique or master a challenging song. For him, it’s all about progression and building confidence as you reach your musical goals. He strives to create a relaxed, open environment where you feel comfortable exploring, asking questions, and enjoying the process of learning.
Taine’s mission is to help you connect with your instrument in a way that’s both enjoyable and fulfilling. He’s committed to fostering a positive, supportive atmosphere where you can grow at your own pace, whether you’re aiming for professional aspirations or just playing for the love of music. With Taine, you can expect a personalised approach to learning that’s grounded in both technique and creativity, all while having fun along the way.
