Tom is a dynamic and versatile guitar coach at The Guitar Gym with a passion for rock, metal, punk, and funk. With a Diploma of Music (Performance) and currently completing a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts Music from QUT, Tom brings a solid academic foundation combined with real-world performance experience to his role. Over the years, he has explored a variety of instruments, including bass and drums, further enriching his musical versatility and understanding of different musical elements.

He is heavily influenced by bands and artists such as Foo Fighters, Muse, Porcupine Tree, Periphery, Queen, and Alter Bridge, which shapes his distinctive playing style. Tom currently drums for the pop-rock solo project Fletcher Dunn, performing semi-regularly and contributing his rhythmic expertise to the creative process. His broad experience across genres and instruments allows him to approach teaching with a comprehensive understanding of music, helping others develop both technically and creatively.

Tom’s coaching philosophy centres on creating a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere where creativity can flourish. He believes in taking the time necessary to help players reach their desired outcomes, with no pressure or deadlines attached to their growth.
